Saylor's Village began in May of 2020, amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Village's founder was in search of small ways to connect youth, like her own two daughters, and parents in her community to the resources needed to increase cognitive development in households across the Birmingham area.
While sustainability and educational development are the main priorities of the Village, we have made it our charge to improve food security and accessibility in the process. All proceeds made from services with the Village will be used in some way to further this goal.
Our mission remains to provide a benefit to all parties we encounter in ways including but not limited to educational experience, quality time, insightful dialogue, charitable acts, community outreach and personal development. To simplify and discredit common misconstrued practices and beliefs regarding child rearing and development in POC communities, and to shift the mindset of generations to come by enabling them with the necessary resources to discover and accept their values, interest and contributions within society.
